Antinuclear Antibodies pattern in Psoriatic Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis: is there any peculiar difference?

In this correspondence, which was accepted by the scientific journal International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, researchers from Imuno Brasil conducted a comprehensive retrospective analysis of medical records. The objective was to assess discrepancies in prevalence, titre levels, and antinuclear factor (ANA) positivity patterns between patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PAs).

Antinuclear antibodies were first described in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in 1958 and, since then, have been identified in several autoimmune diseases, both rheumatic and non-rheumatic.

The ANA positivity rate was observed in approximately one third of all patients with PA and RA, and there was no association between this positivity and demographic, clinical and laboratory characteristics.
